Cherries fall to Brentford hat trick

AFC Bournemouth left London with a four one defeat after an open Premier League match against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The home side took control early when Kevin Schade scored inside seven minutes, and Brentford doubled their advantage before the interval through an own goal credited to goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović, leaving the Cherries facing a difficult second half despite spells of competitive play.

Any hopes of a comeback were checked six minutes after the restart as Schade added his second, although Bournemouth responded positively, creating several chances through Antoine Semenyo, Marcus Tavernier, David Brooks and Justin Kluivert as Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher was repeatedly tested.

Sustained pressure eventually told when Semenyo reduced the deficit from close range with fifteen minutes remaining, giving the travelling support encouragement as Bournemouth continued to push forward and threaten from open play and set pieces.

Brentford, however, sealed the outcome in added time when Schade headed home to complete his hat trick, ensuring AFC Bournemouth were unable to turn a strong second half spell into a late recovery.
