Man in hospital after Verwood crash

A man is being treated in hospital with serious injuries following a three vehicle collision on a main road in Verwood.

Police said the incident happened at around 5.40pm on Tuesday 23 December on Ringwood Road, close to the junction with St Stephen’s Lane, and involved a black Mini Cooper, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a BMW X3, prompting an immediate emergency response and the launch of a formal investigation.

The driver of the Mini, described as a local man in his seventies, was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence at the scene and later taken to hospital for treatment, while the female driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, aged in her fifties, suffered minor injuries and the driver of the BMW was not injured.

Police Sergeant Paul Hind from the Roads Policing Team said an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the collision and urged anyone who was in the area, saw what happened, or may have captured relevant dashcam footage to come forward to assist officers.
