Wimborne teen arrested in Poole case

A 17-year-old boy from Wimborne has been arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary as detectives continue investigating the death of a woman in Poole.

Dorset Police were alerted by the ambulance service in the afternoon on Monday the first of December last year, following the sudden death of a woman aged in her eighties at an address in Higher Blandford Road, Poole, with officers later noting signs inside the property that suggested a possible burglary.

A cordon was put in place at the scene to allow enquiries to be carried out as police worked to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained while specialist teams continue their investigation.

Following initial enquiries, five people were arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary, including men aged thirty two from Verwood, thirty from Wimborne, twenty two from Wimborne, twenty one from Alderholt, and a sixteen year old boy from Romsey, with all five later released on police bail.

After further investigative work, officers made an additional arrest of a seventeen year old boy from Wimborne, who has also been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police say the arrests are part of efforts to gather as much information as possible while providing legal protection to those involved, and anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police quoting the relevant occurrence number, or Crimestoppers anonymously.
