Fairmile Road in Christchurch is blocked in both directions.

Emergency services are dealing with a fire at a derelict property near the hospital.

Dorset Police say there are no reports of injuries and road closures are in place while crews work at the scene.

The fire service was called at 7.18pm to a building described as derelict.

Crews from Christchurch, Redhill Park, Westbourne, Poole, Springbourne and New Milton are attending, supported by an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a command unit from Hamworthy.

Firefighters are using two main lines to extinguish the flames.

Officers are assisting Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue with managing the scene and are asking the public to stay away to allow crews to work safely.

A spokesperson said enquiries will take place to determine how the fire started once the incident has been brought under control.

Emergency teams remain on site and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
