Pier Journal launches first gig at Patch

Pier Journal is partnering with Patch to bring live music to Bobby’s in the town centre, launching a new series of events aimed at supporting musicians and expanding the range of performances available in Bournemouth.

The first ‘Pier Presents’ evening will feature Pictish Trail on Monday 24 November from 7 to 9pm.

The event follows a successful music night at Patch in the summer and marks Pier Journal’s first step into hosting live gigs. The team said they wanted to play a more active role in supporting local music after showcasing the work of promoters through their magazine, website and social channels.

Co-Director Laura Williams said the team shares a love of live performance and felt ready to contribute to the scene.

Pictish Trail, travelling from the Isle of Eigg as part of his UK tour, will perform material from his upcoming album Life Slime, due out in 2026.

The album was written on Eigg and developed with producer Mike Lindsay and collaborator Rob Jones.

Patch continues to establish itself as a key event space in the town centre, hosting talks, workshops, panel events, creative festivals and wellbeing sessions. Organisers hope this first collaboration will lead to further music-focused evenings in the months ahead.
