Fiveways pub to reopen as sports hub

The Fiveways pub in Bournemouth has temporarily closed for refurbishment as it prepares to reopen under Marston’s new Grandstand sports concept.

The venue, located near Castlepoint Shopping Centre, will reopen on 3 December following a £368,600 transformation that promises a major upgrade in technology and atmosphere.

Once complete, the revamped pub will feature large high-definition screens, enhanced sound systems, and tiered seating to give guests a clear view of every match. The outside area will also be refurbished, adding outdoor TV screens and an extended space for watching live sport.

General Manager Hayley Connell said the refurbishment will bring something new to the area while celebrating Bournemouth’s sporting community. “We will have amazing new technology, food and drink offers, and events, and we want as many local people to be featured on our walls as possible,” she said.

The pub will show all major sporting events, including football, rugby, cricket, and Formula One. Classic pub games such as darts and pool will return, alongside new competition leagues and team nights.

Local sports teams will also be able to apply for a Grandstand ‘Black Card’, offering exclusive rewards and team-night benefits.

The reopening marks the latest phase of Marston’s investment in modernising its pubs and creating dedicated sports venues designed to bring communities together.
