Flood alert issued for Poole Harbour

Poole Harbour

A flood alert has been issued for the Dorset coast at Poole Harbour, with the Environment Agency warning that flooding is possible this evening and again tomorrow morning.

The alert covers Poole Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Frome and River Piddle, where high tides combined with strong southerly winds could cause localised flooding.

Flooding is possible between 6pm and 10pm on Tuesday 4 November and again during the morning high tide from 6.30am to 10.30am on Wednesday 5 November.

Forecast data shows a peak tide level of 1.33 metres above average sea level at 8.12pm, which is 0.41 metres higher than tide tables, with southerly force six winds expected.

A second high tide is forecast at 8.36am on Wednesday, also reaching 1.33 metres.

Residents and businesses around Poole Harbour and nearby river areas are being advised to stay aware of local conditions and follow updates from the Environment Agency.
