Twin Sails repair materials due in December
Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge is likely to remain out of action for the rest of the year, as specialist materials needed to repair it aren’t expected to arrive till December.
Engineers have successfully sourced the required materials, and teams are carrying out as much preparatory work as possible before they arrive.
A council spokesperson said they understand how frustrating the bridge’s closure has been for residents and confirmed that long-term plans are progressing alongside the immediate repairs.
Earlier this year, councillors approved £6million of funding for a lasting solution to tackle reliability issues with the lifting bridge.
The wider strategic work, funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy, will involve changes to the lifting mechanism to make the structure more dependable in future.
The bridge closed on August 26th and has not been used since.
