New Chair and Trustee join Lewis-Manning

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has announced two key appointments to its Board of Trustees.

Cecilia Bufton has become Chair of Trustees, bringing with her years of experience across health, wellbeing and charity leadership. She has held senior roles with the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership, NHS Integrated Care Partnership and Talbot Village Trust.

Cecilia said she is proud to join the charity at a time when hospice care is becoming an even more vital part of the national healthcare system. She said Lewis-Manning’s approach “offers patients dignity and choice, as well as supporting their loved ones at every stage of the journey”.

Cecilia succeeds Jeremy Allin, who has been Chair since 2018. During his time in the role, the hospice expanded its reach and strengthened its position as Dorset’s independent hospice charity.

Alongside her appointment, Lewis-Manning has also welcomed Gareth Sherwood as a new Trustee. Gareth, Chief Executive of YMCA Bournemouth, has a background in healthcare, charities and education.

He said it is an honour to join Lewis-Manning and that he hopes to help continue its compassionate support for people across Dorset.

Chief Executive Clare Gallie thanked outgoing Chair Jeremy Allin and Trustee Reverend Jane Burgess for their contribution and welcomed Cecilia and Gareth, saying their combined experience will help the charity continue to grow and serve more people across the county.

Lewis-Manning supports more than 1,200 people every year through its person-centred care in the community and relies on local donations to fund most of its work.
