Fire breaks out at the Bournemouth International Centre

Emergency services were called to the Bournemouth International Centre last night following reports of a fire affecting the outside of the building.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they received the call at around 7.30pm, with thick smoke seen coming from the left-hand side of the building, facing the beach.

Three fire crews from Springbourne, Westbourne and Redhill Park were sent to the scene, along with the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to tackle the flames and a large fan to help clear smoke from the area.

The fire damaged the external roof fascia, with some smoke entering the building through a nearby window. There have been no reports of any injuries.

Investigations into the cause are ongoing.
