Man arrested and taken to hospital after flat fire in Boscombe

A person was rescued from a flat fire in Marina Close, Boscombe this morning following a large emergency response, and Police believe the fire may have been started deliberately.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 11:04am after reports of a fire in a high-rise building. Due to the classification, fire crews from Christchurch, Springbourne, Redhill Park, Westbourne, Poole, Wimborne, Hamworthy and Ferndown were sent to the scene.

On arrival, firefighters found a fire inside a ground floor flat. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

One person was rescued and given initial care by fire crews before being handed over to the ambulance service. The fire was under control by 11:30am.

Following enquiries at the scene, it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately. Dorset Police confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries.
