First images released showing AFC Bournemouth’s stadium expansion plans

AFC Bournemouth has revealed detailed plans to expand and improve Vitality Stadium, increasing capacity to around 20,200 and marking a major step in the club’s long-term Premier League ambitions.

The redevelopment will see the South Stand demolished and replaced with a new grandstand seating approximately 7,000 fans. All four stadium corners will also be filled in, adding over 1,400 extra general admission seats.

Enhancements to the North and East Stands will bring in a further 2,900 seats, while improvements to the West Stand will update hospitality, player and concourse areas.

A new ticket office, fan zone, and outside broadcasting area will be built. The stadium perimeter will be extended with relocated turnstiles and an updated layout for pedestrian, cycle and vehicle access.

The club confirmed that construction will begin in early 2026, with planning applications to be submitted this summer and autumn. Works will be phased to allow matches to continue during the football season.

The changes are designed to meet Premier League and UEFA standards, improve the matchday experience, and more than double the number of season tickets available.

Councillor Rich Herrett from BCP Council welcomed the plans, noting the club’s importance to the area and its positive relationship with the local authority.

* Vitality Stadium currently has the smallest capacity in the Premier League at just over 11,000.
* AFC Bournemouth has been planning expansion since their first promotion in 2015 but paused proposals during ownership changes.
* New owner Bill Foley has previously committed to investing in long-term stadium improvements.
* The club currently has high demand for season tickets, with long waiting lists each season.
* The planned expansion may help AFC Bournemouth host more large-scale non-football events in future.
