Teenage girl and two police officers injured in Bournemouth seafront incident

A teenage girl and two police officers were injured during a disturbance involving a large group on Bournemouth seafront on Monday evening.

Dorset Police were called at 7.29pm on 30 June to reports of a public order incident near Pier Approach. The girl was taken to hospital for treatment after being hurt during the incident. Two officers were also assaulted while responding.

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of affray and one person has been arrested on suspicion of assault. Police enquiries are continuing.

A dispersal order is now in place covering parts of the seafront, town centre gardens and other nearby locations. It gives officers the power to direct anyone they believe may cause further disorder to leave the area.

Chief Superintendent Heather Dixey said violence towards officers will not be tolerated and that a full investigation is being carried out to identify everyone involved. Officers are continuing patrols to reassure the public and maintain safety.

Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to contact Dorset Police quoting incident number 30:631.
