Stencil of child and police officer appears on Rockwater wall

A new piece of stencil street art has appeared overnight on the wall of Rockwater Branksome in Poole, sparking speculation that it could be the work of Banksy.

The image, found this morning, shows a child handing ice creams to a police officer. It was discovered on the outside of the beachfront venue at Branksome Chine.

The black stencil design shares features often associated with Banksy’s work, including the use of bold imagery and social themes.

Eden Maseyk, who is curating the ‘Disruption’ art exhibition at Rockwater tonight, said the piece shows “all the markings of a Banksy”, but added that more time is needed to verify if it is genuine.

Luke Davis of Rockwater said he was surprised by the appearance of the artwork and described the possibility of it being a real Banksy as an honour.

The venue remains open and the wall has already begun drawing attention from curious visitors and art fans.

No confirmation has yet been made by Banksy or their representatives.
