A free five-week event series highlighting local bands is coming to Christchurch Quay this summer.
Christchurch Town Council is launching its new Proms on the Bandstand event.
The town’s historic Victorian Bandstand will be brought to life every Wednesday evening from 28th May to 25th June.
The free events invite residents and visitors alike to relax, connect, and enjoy an hour of performances from 7pm to 8pm.
People are encouraged to bring their own picnics, camping chairs, and blankets to create a festival atmosphere each week.
Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Paul Hilliard, said: “Proms on the Bandstand is all about community.
“It’s a chance to gather, support local musicians, and enjoy the beauty of Christchurch Quay on summer evenings.
“We’re proud to host this celebration of talent, tradition, and togetherness.”
Food and drink will not be available to purchase at the events, so guests are welcome to bring everything they need for an enjoyable, picnic-style evening.
The weekly performance schedule is:
28th May – Funky Beach Choir & Funky Little Choir
Two community choirs join forces to deliver upbeat, feel-good renditions of pop classics and modern favourites.
4th June – Swing Unlimited Community Big Band
A big band known across the South for its stylish take on swing and jazz standards.
11th June – Uke Box Glory
A ukulele group bringing fun, rhythm, and familiar tunes with a twist.
18th June – Twynham School Band
School ensemble presenting an eclectic mix of genres, showcasing the next generation of local performers.
25th June – Royal British Legion Band
Closing the series, the brass band will deliver a selection of traditional and patriotic favourites, bringing a true ‘Last Night of the Proms’ feel to the finale.
