Judy Gillow has been appointed as the Interim Chair of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust for a period of one year.
She takes over from Rob Whiteman, who stepped down from the role at the end of March.
Judy has served as a non-executive director at UHD since April 2023 and has also chaired the Trust’s Audit Committee during that time.
She has a nursing background and has worked in a variety of clinical and leadership roles across the NHS, including acute, community, primary care and education settings.
Her previous roles include Director of Nursing and Organisational Development at University Hospitals Southampton and a non-executive director position at Dorset County Hospital.
Peter Wilson, Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Medical Officer at UHD, said: “Judy Gillow brings a great wealth of experience from across the NHS to her role as our Chair. We have benefited greatly from her support as a non-executive director and look forward to her leadership at a very exciting and challenging time for UHD and the NHS.”
As Interim Chair, Judy Gillow will lead the Board of Directors and support the Trust’s strategic aims while ensuring high standards of governance.
University Hospitals Dorset runs Poole Hospital, the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Christchurch Hospital, providing healthcare services for residents across east Dorset and beyond.
