Two friends have set off on an epic challenge to run Seven Marathons in Seven Days for the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.
Chris Helberg and Chris Bryer-Ash are attempting to run a total of 183.4 miles this week, covering different routes each day, before finishing on Sunday, 16th March, at Bournemouth Pier.
Former Cherries Chairman and DCCF Patron Jeff Mostyn performed the official starting duties on day one near Corfe Castle, where supporters gathered to cheer them on.
The friends are running for The Dorset Cancer Care Foundation which provides much-needed financial assistance to Dorset residents and their families who are living with cancer.
The charity, which was set up by three Poole nurses in 2012, helps pay for essentials such as accommodation costs, bills, transport to and from hospital and respite breaks.
Chris Bryer-Ash said: “We have been really inspired by the amount of people, many of whom we don’t even know, who have already gone online to sponsor us.
“We set an initial fundraising target of £20k, but we have already reached £61K before we have even started running!
“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and we hope people will go online and donate whatever they can knowing they are helping local families who really need it.”
