Bournemouth has been named as having one of the top beaches in the world by Tripadvisor.
A list of its travellers’ top shores puts Bournemouth in 12th place.
The travel website describes the dog-friendly beach as “an all-around spot” with “smooth sand and clear water for swimmers, a lovely pier for walkers, and beach huts and ice cream stands for families”.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel.
It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period.
Out of Tripadvisors’ eight million listings, fewer than one per cent achieve the milestone.
Bournemouth ranks as the UK’s top beach in the list which marks the 25th anniversary of Tripadvisor.
The number one slot goes to Balos Lagoon in Crete, Greece.
