Met Office issues yellow wind warning for New Year’s Day with speeds of 64 mph forecast for Bournemouth

Flashback: A tree brought down by strong winds earlier this month.

Events planned for New Year’s Day in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole could be affected by bad weather.

The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for most of England with wind speeds of up to 64 miles an hour forecast for Bournemouth.

The warning is in force from 9am on New Year’s Day, January 1st, until 6am on January 2nd.

The Met Office says road, rail, air and ferry services could be affected while there is a “slight chance” of some damage to buildings.

Power cuts could also occur and affect other services such as mobile phone coverage.
