Weather warning in place all weekend across Bournemouth – delays expected on public transport

A Yellow weather warning is in place across the weekend for Bournemouth, east Dorset and the rest of the south coast.

The Met Office says heavy rain associated with Storm Bert may cause some travel disruption and flooding today and tomorrow, along with strong southerly winds.

South Western Railway says trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines throughout the weekend, leading to possible delays and cancellations.

On the trains, services between Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo will start and finish their journey at Basingstoke, and journey times will be longer between Salisbury and Exeter and between Bournemouth and Weymouth due to speed restrictions.

The company says: “If you intend to travel on our network, please check before you travel using journey planners, which will be updated throughout the weekend.”
