Person released by fire crews after second road traffic incident within 12 hours on the A31 Wimborne bypass

One person was released by fire crews and taken to hospital last night after the second road traffic incident in the space of 12 hours on the A31 Wimborne bypass.

Emergency services were called to the incident involving a single vehicle at around 8.30pm.

The road between the Canford Bottom and Merley roundabouts was closed for more than three hours.

Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 8.33pm on Sunday 10th November of a single vehicle collision on the A31 near to the Canford Bottom roundabout.

“Emergency services attended and the occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital.

“He is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries as a result of the collision.

“Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded and these were lifted shortly after 12am on Monday 11th November.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called to the A31 between the Canford Bottom and Merley roundabouts at 9.01pm this evening (10th November) following a single vehicle road traffic incident.

“We have two crews from Wimborne on scene.

“The stop came in at 9.36pm, one casualty released from the car into the care of the ambulance service.”

Earlier there were long delays after a three vehicle collision at the Canford Bottom roundabout at around 8.30am leading to the road being blocked.

There were no reports of any injuries but a traffic light was damaged.

Dorset Police told Bournemouth One: “We received a report at 9.08am of a three vehicle collision at the Canford Bottom Roundabout near Wimborne.

“Officers attended, there were no reports of any injuries and it was reported the road was blocked.

“The highways authority was also notified of damage caused to a traffic light.

“Officers left the scene at around 10.50am.”
