Twenty firefighters tackled a blaze in a local recycling centre on Ling Road in Poole this morning.
Residents around the area were advised to keep their windows closed as the smoke spread from the scene.
Pumping appliances from Poole, Hamworthy, Redhill Park, Ferndown, Westbourne and Springbourne were mobilised around 5am along with special appliances from Dorchester and Poole.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two main lines, one hose reel jet and one safety jet to tackle the fire.
The majority of firefighters left around 8am but crews remain on scene to dampen down and assist site staff.
