Christchurch Christmas Lights Switch On to feature Jack and the Beanstalk panto stars

Special guests for the Christchurch Christmas Lights Switch On will include some of the cast from this season’s Bournemouth Pavilion pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

The panto has David Ribi (Channel 5’s Milkshake! presenter) as Jack, Rachel Grundy (West End star) as Princess Jill, and Calum Lill (known for his “bad boy” role on Coronation Street) as Fleshcreep.

They will join the Mayor at 5pm for the official countdown and lights switch-on on Saturday 23rd November 2024.

The Christmas Lights Switch On is expected to draw visitors from across Christchurch and beyond, with festivities running from 11am to 7pm including live music, market stalls, funfair rides, and holiday characters such as Olaf from Frozen.

The entertainment lineup features local talent, including school choirs, community bands, and the lively Acoustix band. After the switch-on, the band We Are Robot will play a festive set to close out the event.

Jack and the Beanstalk, a UK Productions Ltd production, will run at Bournemouth Pavilion from Saturday 7 December 2024 – Sunday 5 January 2025.

In addition, Christchurch Town Council has announced that The Thomas Tripp pub is the official sponsor of the 2024 Christmas Tree in Christchurch High Street.

Dave Burns, co-owner of The Thomas Tripp, shared his excitement, saying: “We are delighted to provide the Christmas tree for Christchurch this year.

“Supporting our town in the festive season is something we take to heart, and we’re thrilled to contribute in a way that reflects our commitment to the community.

For us, Christmas is all about togetherness, and we hope this tree is a symbol for everyone to gather around and celebrate.”
