Wimborne Road West in Ferndown was closed on Friday afternoon as emergency services attended a possible gas leak in the area.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 1.12pm following reports.
“Two crews attended, from Redhill Park and Wimborne, and firefighters maintained scene safety until the incident could be handed over to SGN, the fire service told Bournemouth One.
The road was closed for a while but there are now temporary traffic lights in place.
Also this afternoon, the A31 was congested or blocked in two places – past Sturminster Marshall near the A350 junction following a crash, and in the New Forest from Stoney Cross to Picket Post westbound due to a multi-vehicle collision.
