Officers investigating an assault in Westbourne are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Police received a report that a man was assaulted by a group of five or six men carrying wood and a crowbar around two o’clock yesterday afternoon.
It happened at the junction of Prince of Wales Road and Nelson Road.
The victim, who is currently unknown, is believed to have suffered a head injury and left the scene in a black Audi.
He is described as white and of stocky build, with short dark hair and stubble, wearing a Muted light navy-blue hooded top and spoke with either a Russian or Hungarian accent.
The male offenders are described as being in their 30s wearing dark clothing, with one being of stocky build with black hair and a beard. They are believed to have left the scene in a black VW Golf.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Jenkins, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this incident and we are exploring a number of active lines of enquiry to identify the victim and offenders involved.
“I am appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident in Westbourne during the early afternoon on Thursday to please make contact with us.
“I would also urge any motorists who were driving in the area to check if they have captured any relevant dashcam footage and similarly I would ask residents in the vicinity to check any home CCTV footage from around the time of the incident.”
