Rosie Sydenham from Boscombe has become one of the first lucky customers to win £1,000 in-store – just by shopping at Poundland.
Last week Poundland launched its ‘Grand in Your Hand’ promotion that sees 30 of its customers across the UK win £1,000 for each of the following 30 days.
The customers, chosen at random, receive an instant cash prize when they pay at one of the discounter’s 3,000 manned checkouts in any of its 750-plus UK stores.
Rosie, 21, won her prize after visiting the Poundland store in the Sovereign Centre to buy snacks for her three boys’ lunchboxes.
A regular Poundland shopper, she stepped out of the store £1,000 richer after manager Sarah Bradshaw told her the computer had selected her to be an instant winner.
Rosie said: “I was shocked – what a massive weight off my shoulders.
“I’m going to get some new furniture for the flat and put some money away for my three boys.”
Sarah said: “It’s amazing that one of the first thirty winners is one of our regular shoppers.
“We couldn’t believe it either!”
No additional purchase is required to take part in ‘Grand in Your Hand’.
Poundland customers simply check out as normal and the computer systems at each store selects a shopper at random each day to win a grand in their hand.
