A West Moors man hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the British Heart Foundation by selling off his late wife’s large Marmite collection.
David Walker has hit the headlines across TV, radio and newspapers with the fundraising venture, fulfilling a promise made to Laura who died four years ago from cancer.
Although not a fan of Marmite himself, David, pictured left, says there’ll be up to 300 items available at next week’s table top garden sale.
He told Bournemouth One: “It ranges from modern day jars and designs that have got product which are still sealed, but they are quite old so I wouldn’t recommend anybody eats them, through to vintage stock which includes sealed jars, old tins, chopping boards, calendars, ink blotters, signs and rare limited edition items as well.
“I’ve even got a boxed Paddington limited edition set and I would estimate that will go for about £500.”
David, who can sometimes be heard reading the news on Bournemouth One, has already raised £800 with buyers from as far afield as Yorkshire.
Unilever, the manufacturer of Marmite, has agreed to promote the sale on its social media.
The table top garden sale is on Saturday July 13 from 10am to 2pm at 203 Uplands Road, West Moors, BH22 OEZ.
