Road closed while emergency services deal with incident reportedly involving man with knife

A Bournemouth road was closed this morning while emergency services dealt with an incident.

Police received a report at just after six o’clock raising concern about the welfare of a man at an address in Markham Road.

The windows of a property were reportedly smashed and the man was in possession of knife.

Officers attended with the ambulance service and tried to engage with the man in an effort to resolve the situation.

The full statement from Dorset Police reads:

“Dorset Police received a report at 6.08am on Monday 22 April 2024 raising concern for the welfare of a man at an address in Markham Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that windows of a property were smashed and the man was in possession of a knife.

“Officers are in attendance with the ambulance service and making efforts to engage with the man in an effort to resolve the situation safely.

“The road has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.”
