Bournemouth ranked fifth priciest seaside destination for parking this Easter

Bournemouth has been ranked as the fifth priciest seaside destination in the UK for parking this Easter.

A new study conducted by car check experts Motorscan has revealed that motorists will pay £10.42 on average in the resort.

Collating data via Parkopedia, the study evaluates the average parking costs in 30 prominent UK seaside towns.

The analysis focuses on parking spots available on an eight-hour basis within a 30-minute or less walking distance from the town centre.

Brighton took the top spot as the location with the most expensive parking, averaging at £24.21 for an eight-hour stay.

Commenting on the findings, Oliver Thompson, Motorscan’s Head of Vehicle Intelligence, said: “As evidenced by our latest study, parking costs can significantly impact holiday experiences, especially during peak periods like Easter.

“These findings underscore the importance of informed decision-making and strategic planning to maximise enjoyment while minimising expenses during holiday travels.

“Just make sure that you’re prioritising safety and security when deciding where to park your car too.”

Four of the ten Bournemouth car parks included in the survey are run by BCP Council.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “Across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) there are various tariffs depending on the location of the car park within the town, its popularity and planned duration of the stay, thereby offering great value to residents and visitors.

“BCP, like many councils across the country, is facing an unprecedented financial challenge.

“Soaring inflation has driven up costs and many local authorities are facing an increase in demand for core services, such as social care, education and highways.

“This inevitably has a knock-on effect on the cost of parking as well.”
