Hillside Road is closed at the junction with Ringwood Road, the B3081, for emergency repair work to be carried out.
The junction was closed to vehicles on February 13th and is expected to reopen on the 20th.
Dorset County Council says the order is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
A diversion has been set up to access the road, which is the main route to Hillside School, via St Stephens Lane.
