Officers investigating a road rage incident in Wimborne are appealing for a driver involved and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
At around 1.55pm on Saturday 18 September 2021 witnesses reported a black Mercedes approach the first of two roundabouts on Hanham Road, travelling in the direction of Rowlands Hill, with the male driver apparently distracted by a collision on the other side of the road.
The driver of a light blue or silver-coloured multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) reportedly sounded its horn, apparently to let the driver of the Mercedes know the road ahead was clear, and he responded by winding down his window and shouting abuse at them.
As the Mercedes pulled onto the roundabout, it braked suddenly, causing the MPV behind to have to also brake sharply to avoid a collision. Further down the road the Mercedes also swerved into the left-hand lane without indicating, again forcing the other vehicle to brake sharply.
Police Constable Christina Macken, of East Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter but so far we have been unable to identify the driver of the MPV, who was the victim in this incident.
“I would urge them to contact us so we can take their account of what happened.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam, or anyone walking nearby who may have witnessed this incident.”
