A planning application has been submitted by Morrisons to install a home shopping unit and van canopy in the existing service yard of its Verwood store, plus a click and collect canopy in the car park.
The application, which is currently under consideration by Dorset Council, could enable Morrisons to offer a delivery service to homes in Verwood and the surrounding area if approved.
Home Delivery is already offered by Morrisons in other areas of the country, but currently not in the BH31 postcode.
However, Morrisons has told VerwoodToday.co.uk that they have no plans to launch the new services in Verwood, and that nothing has been decided yet about if or when Home Delivery and Click & Collect would launch in Verwood.
A spokesperson said: “We are continuing to review which stores can fulfill Morrisons.com but there are no plans to use our Verwood store at the moment”.
Earlier this year, Morrisons teamed up with Amazon to offer ‘ultra fast’ delivery with a full home shop being delivered in under an hour. This service launched in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and parts of London and the Home Counties and is hoped to be expanded in the future.
Comments on the application, part of Morrisons’ Fresh Look 2020 Project, can be made via the planning website link below until December 23rd 2019.
