Man charged with murder after Bournemouth death

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Bournemouth.

Police were called to reports of an assault outside MyBar in Charminster Road at around 3am on Monday 6 April 2026.

A man, later named by his family as 41-year-old James Blanch from Christchurch, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team have since carried out detailed enquiries.

Thirty-five-year-old Rico Wilson has now been charged with murder and is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 10 July 2026.

In the early stages of the investigation, three other men were arrested on suspicion of murder but have since been released without charge.

A 37-year-old man from Bournemouth remains under investigation for separate offences of public order and assaulting an emergency worker.

A 39-year-old man from Bournemouth who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
