Register now for Bournemouth council vote

Residents must register soon if they want to vote in the new town council elections.

People living in Bournemouth, Broadstone and Poole have until midnight on 20 April 2026 to sign up if they are not already registered to vote ahead of polling day.

The elections for the newly created town councils will take place on 7 May and will choose representatives for local parish level matters.

Officials say registering online takes around 5 minutes and can be completed through the BCP Council website.

Returning Officer Aidan Dunn said residents should check they are ready to vote and ensure their details are up to date if they have recently moved home.

Voters can take part by attending a polling station, voting by post or appointing someone they trust to vote on their behalf using a proxy vote.

Anyone voting in person will need to show photo identification at the polling station.

Residents who do not have an accepted form of ID can apply for a free voter authority certificate before the election.
