Conservative candidates will stand in the Bournemouth Town Council elections in Bournemouth West.
Residents across Bournemouth, Poole and Broadstone will go to the polls on 7 May to elect councillors to three new town councils created following a community governance decision by BCP Council in October 2025.
The proposal to establish the councils passed at the time with Bournemouth approved by a vote of 34 to 31, while Broadstone and Poole were approved by votes of 36 to 24.
Conservatives have previously criticised the creation of the councils, raising concerns about the cost of introducing a new level of local government.
Despite those concerns, the party says it believes residents should still be represented in decisions affecting their communities.
Bournemouth West Conservatives have confirmed they will field candidates in 4 wards within the area.
These include Kinson, Northbourne Redhill Wallisdown North and Winton West, Winton East Charminster West and Talbot Woods, and Bournemouth Central West Cliff and Westbourne.
Chair John Beesley said it is vital residents are represented and that elected members provide scrutiny and accountability.
