Search underway for escaped prisoner in Poole

A man is being sought after escaping from a prisoner transport vehicle in Poole.

Police were called at 5.28pm on Thursday 2 April 2026 after 32 year old Jason Evans made off from lawful custody on Poole Road, prompting a significant response involving officers on the ground and support from the NPAS helicopter.

Evans had earlier appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court where he was charged with assault and other offences and remanded in custody, and he is described as white, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, with ginger hair and last seen wearing grey clothing.

Superintendent Joe Pardey said officers are carrying out searches and enquiries to locate him “as soon as possible” and return him to custody, while urging anyone who sees someone matching the description and “appears to be avoiding detection” to come forward.

Members of the public are advised not to approach him and to call 999 immediately with any sightings, while anyone with other information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2:388 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
