BU ranks in top 5% for apprenticeships

New Government figures place Bournemouth University among the top 5% of apprenticeship providers nationally.

The university ranked 51st out of 1,111 providers across the UK in figures covering 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, making it the 4th highest-ranking university in the publication and marking a strong result for Bournemouth-based higher education.

More than 91% of BU apprentices successfully completed their programmes, well above the national average of 65%, with 436 apprentices currently studying at the university across 11 degree apprenticeship courses in Healthcare and Law, plus 2 engineering programmes delivered with Bournemouth and Poole College.

Course results highlighted included a 92% success rate on the Advanced Clinical Practitioner course, while every student completing the Senior Leader apprenticeship achieved a distinction, and BU was also ranked joint 1st in the 16 to 18 category after all 6 apprentices finished successfully.

Ceri Geary, Apprenticeships Compliance Manager at Bournemouth University, said the ranking reflected “all the hard work” of apprentices and staff, adding that the courses combine “strong academic learning” with practical workplace experience.
