New report shows confidence in Bournemouth
Growing confidence in Bournemouth town centre is being backed by new investment and fresh support.
A new Believing in Bournemouth report was launched at The Ivy Bournemouth, bringing together businesses, media, education leaders and other stakeholders to highlight a shift in sentiment and growing optimism after a difficult period for high streets.
It points to firms choosing to invest, expand and base themselves in the centre, with The Ivy, Patch, The Botanist, Sport It First and the transformation of Bobby’s offered as evidence of a town “on the rise”.
Property experts Savills say improving retail demand, a strong food and beverage offer and a diverse visitor economy are helping position Bournemouth for growth, while speakers said it is important to keep championing the town’s strengths.
Savills planning director Peter Lamb told Bournemouth One it would be great to see more cranes back in the town creating more homes and facilities, while Martin Davies, Chair of Bournemouth Town Centre BID, alongside Paul, and Frank Prior of Paris Smith, reinforced the positive narrative surrounding the town. They shared why Bournemouth continues to attract businesses and talent and emphasised the importance of collectively championing its strengths to sustain this momentum.
Supported by partners including BCP Council, Bournemouth University and Bournemouth and Poole College, the report says now is a critical moment to celebrate progress, build collaboration and encourage more people to help create a vibrant town centre.
