Jeff Mostyn joins Bournemouth Rugby club

Jeff Mostyn has joined Bournemouth Rugby as honorary chairman in a new step for the club.

The appointment sees him support the club and its corporate development panel, with owner Matthew Barker saying it was important to bring stability after years without financial security and to build a “secure financial and sustainable base” for the future.

Mostyn is widely known in Bournemouth for leading the AFC Bournemouth takeover in 2006 and helping save the club from liquidation, before playing a key role in its rise from League 2 to the Premier League.

He said he felt an “instant connection” when he walked into the rugby clubhouse, adding that while football and the Cherries remain his first love, he believes he can offer guidance from the success achieved at AFC Bournemouth.

Club chairman Phil Sinkinson said the move is “a sign of progress” and said Mostyn will bring knowledge, expertise and support as Bournemouth Rugby aims to grow as both a community rugby club and a corporate community business.
