Wimborne named among best places to live

Wimborne Minster has been included in the latest Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.

The Dorset town appears on the list of locations highlighted across the southwest of England in the annual guide, which looks at communities offering a strong quality of life.

In total 72 places across the UK were selected for the 2026 guide, with Norwich in Norfolk named the overall national winner.

The southwest list includes Malmesbury in Wiltshire, Bridport in Dorset, Kingsdown in Bristol, Dartmoor and Exmouth in Devon, Falmouth and Penryn in Cornwall, Stroud in Gloucestershire and Wimborne Minster in Dorset.

Malmesbury was named the top location in the region, recognised for its historic setting, busy high street and active community life.

The Sunday Times judges visited each location and assessed factors including schools, transport links, broadband, local amenities and access to green spaces.

Helen Davies said the guide aims to highlight places where communities are thriving and where residents feel proud to call home.
