
Police staff recognised at Dorset awards
Dorset Police officers, staff and volunteers have been recognised at a force awards ceremony.
The event on 11 March 2026 celebrated long service, bravery and major investigations carried out by teams working across the county to support policing and public safety.
A team of detectives and investigators received Chief Constable’s and Crown Court commendations for their work investigating the murder of Amie Gray and the attempted murder of Leanne Miles, which led to an offender being sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 39 years.
Those recognised included Detective Sergeant David Wise, former Detective Sergeant Sarah Gedge, Police Staff Investigator Simon Huxter, Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Jenkins, Police Sergeant Hayley Lyne, Detective Constable Joanne Thomas and Crime Analyst Rosemary Latham.
Sergeant Tim Travers received a Chief Constable commendation for his leadership during a high risk incident involving a vulnerable woman on a clifftop, with officers maintaining contact throughout the night until the situation ended safely.
Police Constable Samuel Hunt also received a Royal Humane Society award after helping deliver CPR to a man in cardiac arrest until he began breathing again.
Chief Constable Amanda Pearson praised the “dedication to public service, courage, bravery and tenacity” shown by officers, staff and volunteers across Dorset Police.
