Cherries stretch run with Burnley draw

AFC Bournemouth made it 10 Premier League matches unbeaten after a goalless draw at Burnley.

The Cherries moved on to 41 points from 30 league games after a tight contest at Turf Moor, with Evanilson going closest before the break when he rounded Martin Dúbravka only to see his shot cleared off the line by Bashir Humphreys.

Burnley threatened at times, but Dorde Petrovic made key saves from Zian Flemming and Jaidon Anthony, while Bournemouth also produced an important defensive intervention through Marcos Senesi and Adrien Truffert to stop a dangerous ball from reaching Lyle Foster.

Andoni Iraola’s side came out strongly after half-time and looked to “move the ball quickly through midfield”, with Marcus Tavernier striking the outside of the post before substitute Enes Ünal fired just wide and David Brooks saw a header drift past the upright.

Bournemouth kept going in a game where both teams pushed forward, but Burnley’s defence stayed “well organised” and the visitors’ back line also “held firm” to make sure the unbeaten run continued in Lancashire.
