Weekend rail works affect Bournemouth trains

Passengers travelling to and from Bournemouth this weekend are being warned of disruption due to engineering work on the South Western Railway network.

Lines in the Winchester area will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, affecting services including trains running between London Waterloo and Weymouth as well as routes linking Southampton and Bournemouth.

Because of the closures, some services will not run as usual and passengers may need to change trains or complete part of their journey using rail replacement buses.

Replacement buses are planned between Basingstoke, Winchester and Eastleigh as well as Basingstoke and Southampton Central via Winchester on both days.

Separate engineering work will also take place between Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids, meaning trains between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids will not run normally.

Rail replacement buses will operate between Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids and also between Honiton and Exeter St Davids.

South Western Railway is advising passengers to check their journey before travelling and allow extra time as journeys may take longer than usual.
