Orchestral 80s concert coming to Poole

A live orchestral celebration of 1980s music is coming to Lighthouse Poole this summer soon.

Singer Carol Decker will headline the concert alongside Nik Kershaw and Johnny Hates Jazz, performing with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra as part of 80s Classical, a show bringing together songs from the decade in an orchestral setting.

The performance on 5 June is one of 3 special concerts planned for the summer, with artists performing their own hits alongside other well known songs from the era in a live show featuring the full orchestra.

Carol Decker rose to international success with T’Pau during the late 1980s, with hits including the UK number 1 China in Your Hand and Heart and Soul from the band’s debut album Bridge of Spies.

Reflecting on recording new music after a long gap, Carol said she “hadn’t felt very motivated to write for the longest time” but now feels ready again, adding she is “looking forward to Be Wonderful coming out” despite some nerves about releasing new material.
