Bournemouth dog walk to support two causes

A sponsored dog walk along Bournemouth seafront will bring together two local charities supporting vulnerable people and young people with additional needs.

Hope Housing Training and Support, based in St Swithuns Road South, has partnered with Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs in New Road to organise the community walk between Bournemouth Pier and Boscombe Pier and back.

Hope provides accommodation and support for rough sleepers and others affected by homelessness, helping people move towards independent training, work and living. Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs trains dogs to support young people with Autism and Down’s syndrome, helping build confidence, independence and quality of life.

Julie Berti, chief executive of Hope, said the event had returned after previous successful walks and organisers hoped many dog owners and their pets would take part in support of “two great causes carrying out vital work helping vulnerable people in our community”.

Participants’ dogs will receive a medal for taking part. Easter themed prizes will also be awarded for best dressed dog and the dog raising the most sponsorship, while children can take part in a craft competition.

Peter Rufus from Helpful Hounds said the event offered a chance for people to come together, enjoy the seafront and support two Bournemouth charities working in the community.

Hope & Hounds will take place on Sunday March 29, from 2pm-4pm. To register, visit https://tinyurl.com/y22t2jpkvisit or: Hope & Hounds Beach Walk 2026 A Paw-some Day for a Powerful Cause — Hope Housing, Training & Support Limited
