Health strategy consultation launched

Residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being invited to help shape a new Health and Wellbeing Strategy that will guide local priorities until 2031. BCP Council has launched a consultation asking people for their views on how it should work with partners to improve health, wellbeing and reduce inequalities across the area.

Producing the strategy is a statutory duty of the council’s Health and Wellbeing Board. The draft plan sets out four key priorities: Starting Well, Mental Wellbeing, Living and Ageing Well, and Healthy Neighbourhoods and Communities.

Proposed actions include reducing risky behaviours among children and young people, improving access to community mental health support, increasing uptake of NHS immunisation and screening programmes, tackling poverty, and reducing social isolation by creating more connected communities.

Councillor David Brown, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “This is an opportunity to help shape how we make real changes to health and wellbeing going forward. We want to know if the priorities we have set out in our draft strategy are also the priorities of people living in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.”

The consultation is open until Monday 23 March, with details available online and in council run libraries.
