Dorset chief constable to retire
Dorset Police Chief Constable Amanda Pearson has announced she will retire this summer after more than 33 years in policing and three years leading the force.
She said it had been an honour and a privilege to lead the force in the county where she lives, adding that she was stepping down with gratitude and pride in the work carried out by officers, staff and volunteers across Dorset.
During her time as Chief Constable, Dorset has remained one of the safest places in the country and the number of crimes solved has continued to rise. She said the service provided to victims and communities is getting stronger, while the force has balanced its budgets year on year despite financial pressures.
Chief Constable Pearson thanked colleagues and the public for their support and confirmed she will continue in her role in the coming months. The Police and Crime Commissioner is expected to begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Constable soon to ensure continuity and maintain the force’s local focus.
