Five teenagers are set to appear in court following reported disorder on Southbourne Beach in Bournemouth.

Officers were called on the evening of Thursday 17 April 2025 after reports of violence linked to a large gathering of young people. It was alleged several people were assaulted and that one person involved was carrying a hammer. Police attended and dispersed the crowd, preventing further incidents.

In the months that followed, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Police’s neighbourhood policing team carried out a detailed investigation. This included reviewing CCTV footage and working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to identify those allegedly involved.

A 17 year old boy from Poole has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon. Another 17 year old from Poole has been charged with affray and possession of a class B drug. An 18 year old man from Poole has been charged with affray, while a 17 year old from Poole and a 17 year old from Bournemouth have been issued with postal requisitions for affray.

All five are due to appear at Poole Youth Court on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

Chief Inspector Nick Lee said police recognise the impact of public place violence and remain committed to ensuring beaches and public spaces can be enjoyed safely.
