Wimborne quiz raises funds for aid
Supporters in Wimborne have raised more than £600 to help communities facing crisis overseas.
Wimborne Christian Aid Group hosted its annual fundraising quiz at Wimborne Methodist Church, where teams of 4 competed for prizes and helped generate a total of £620 for the international development agency.
Organiser Mike Lunt thanked those who took part and praised quizmaster Irene Selway for setting “interesting and varied questions”, as well as the Methodist Church for providing the venue for the evening.
The group is now preparing to return to the same King Street church for its Lent Lunches, which will run on Tuesdays from 24 February until 31 March, with guests invited to drop in shortly after 12.30pm for bread, cheese and fruit.
There is no set charge to attend, although donation envelopes will be available, and organisers say the funds raised will support Christian Aid’s partners delivering emergency assistance in times of crisis alongside longer term development projects in vulnerable communities worldwide.
