A health centre in Winton will reopen with modern facilities after a £1.2 million NHS funded refurbishment.
Winton Health Centre on Alma Road stopped running patient clinics in 2023 but is now set to become a new neighbourhood health hub serving Bournemouth residents. Dorset HealthCare, NHS Dorset and Banks and Bearwood Medical Practice are leading the project, with building work due to start in February and finish by summer 2026.
The building is owned by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and must be used for clinical services. Once complete, Banks and Bearwood Medical Practice plans to relocate from Wimborne Road into the updated site, which will include six consulting rooms to improve access to appointments.
Dorset HealthCare will also provide paediatric services, speech and language therapy, podiatry, leg ulcer and heart failure clinics, community oncology, nursing teams and mental health talking therapies.
Dr Yasser Kerim said the development will give patients access to a wide range of services close to home and allow more appointments. Rachel Small said the investment shows a commitment to making healthcare more accessible locally.
Community engagement sessions will take place before work begins to keep residents informed.
